About Asian Contemplative and Transcultural Studies at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS)
The California Institute of Integral Studies, founded by Haridas Chaudhuri, disciple of Sri Aurobindo, is known for being a pioneer in the field of Asian Contemplative and Transcultural Studies.
This Spring, we launched the program in Asian Contemplative and Transcultural Studies (ACTS) with the aim of teaching and researching the contemplative traditions, practices and experiences of South and East Asia as agents for change in the modern world.
Our mission is to provide a neutral and critically conscious academic space for reflective and practical engagement with the contemplative traditions, practices and experiences of Asia for scholar-practitioners interested in experiencing personal transformation and in becoming leaders who catalyze renewed meaning and wholeness in our world.
This is a 2 year online MA in East-West Psychology with a Concentration in Asian Contemplative and Transcultural Studies (School of Consciousness and Transformation).
The ACTS program provides students with knowledge and skills relevant to many professional fields, both inside and outside the academy. Graduates from our program go on to work as:
Educators, researchers, writers, and workshop leaders
Counselors and mental health professionals
Spiritual counselors and life coaches
Artists and museum curators
Community planners and activists
Cultural relation experts
