Santoor – Vinay Desai   Tabla Sapan Anjaria

Vinay received knowledge in vocal/harmonium/tabla from Shafiq Rahman in his teens. In 2011, with blessings and direct guidance of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Vinay began his studies under Takahiro Arai and Dhananjay Daithankar. He later moved back to the USA to learn from Kunal Gunjal. To expand his knowledge in music, Vinay has learnt from different teachers such as the late Pandit Ramesh Mishra, Parthasarathi Chatterjee and Jay Gandhi.

He currently resides at Shanti Mandir, Walden, NY where he continues his studies and performs.

 

He will be accompanied on tabla by Sapan Anjaria.

Sapan Anjaria received his formal training from Pt. Nandan Mehta and continues to take guidance from Pt. Puran Maharaj, Rajal Shah and Hetal Mehta Joshi.

Sapan has accompanied various artists and has performed solo performances as well. He considers himself fortunate to have accompanied maestros like Ustad Shujaat Khan, Vidushi Manju Mehta, Pt Brij Narayan, Pt Sarathi Chatterji to a name few. He has toured extensively in India and has also performed in Dubai, Austria, Belgium, Russia and Japan.

Sapan has won many awards and scholarships which includes winning All India Radio Competition, Scholarship by Saptak School of Music, Pt. Nikhil Ghosh Memorial Promising Artist Award and winner at All India Youth Festival Competition.
