SUMMARY:EVENTNAME - October 15\, 2016 - October 16\, 2016 - 10:00 am - 5:0
0 pm - MATAGIRI SRI AUROBINDO CENTER
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nWithout him\, I exist not\; without me he is unmanifest
.\n-The Mother of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram\n\n\nIn the Indian tradition\,
the masculine and feminine\, the Shiva and the Shakti are understood as di
fferent faces of the One Divine.\n\nIn the Western Abrahamic tradition of
Judaism\, Christianity and Islam the female principle is present in many f
orms but is not obvious and primary except in the devotion to the Virgin M
ary seen in various festivals primarily in southern Europe and Latin Ameri
ca.\n\nProf. Neela Saxena has explored this theme in her recent book Absen
t Mother God of the West. Written from a Hindu/Buddhist Tantric perspecti
ve\, and as a travelogue\, the book describes its author's encounters wi
th the Black Madonna in Europe and Shekhinah in Jewish mysticism. It is
also a scholarly account of how the Mother God was erased from the west
ern consciousness leading to a spiritually patriarchal monotheism. Copie
s will be available at a special discounted price.\n\nDr. Andrew Cort has
written extensively on the Western Esoteric tradition and specifically on
the women of the Bible in his book\, The Sacred Chalice\, where he explore
s the psychological and spiritual meaning of their stories.\n\nThe weekend
will be complimented with experiential workshops in yoga with Wendy Lines
\, guided meditations with Miriam Belov\, Dialogue with Jennifer Mehlich a
nd healing energy with Marianne DiPalma Buchele.\n\nPlease write or call w
 ith your interest in attending. \n\n$40 per day\, $70 weekend\, $15 per s
ession\n\nNo one will be refused for lack of funds.\n\ninfo@gvs.cip.myblue

 NINE\n \nA Weekend Celebration at Matagiri\, in Mt. Tremper\, NY\nOctober
  15-16\, 2016        \nSuggested Donation: $70 for the Weekend\, $4
 0 for one day\, $15 per session\n \n \nSATURDAY SCHEDULE:\n \n10:00 –
  10:30    Registration\n \n10:30 – 10:35    Welcome from Wendy Li
 nes\, on behalf of Matagiri\n \n10:35 – 12:00   Absent Mother God of
the West: A Kali Lover's Journey into Christianity and Judaism\nwith Neela
Saxena\n \nNeela’s new book by this name is about the missing Divine F
eminine in Christianity and Judaism. It chronicles the personal quest of
an Indian woman who grew up with Kali. Written from a Hindu/Buddhist Tan
tric perspective\, and as a travelogue\, the book describes its author's
encounters with the Black Madonna in Europe and Shekhinah in Jewish mys
ticism. It is also a scholarly account of how the Mother God was erased
from the western consciousness leading to a spiritually patriarchal mon
 otheism. \n \n \n12:00 – 12:10   Sacred Feminine Slide Show \n \n
 12:00 – 1:00     Lunch (bring your own or $12 donation)\n \n1:00
 – 2:30       The Women of the Bible: The Inner Spiritual and Psych
ological Meaning of Their Stories\n\nwith Dr. Andrew Cort\n In the Kabbal
ah\, the Sacred Feminine is described as the ‘Vessel’ that accepts and
protects the ‘Seed’\, the Sacred Masculine\, like a chalice filled wi
th wine. When the Bible is read as a symbolic parable of the soul’s jour
ney of enlightenment (not a literal description of people walking from one
place to another)\, we see that at every step along the path there is a n
ecessary Feminine Principle as well as a Masculine Principle: e.g.\, Abrah
am and Sarah\, Isaac and Rebecca\, Jesus and Mary\, etc. Contrary to its s
exist reputation\, when read as myth and allegory the Bible shows us that
without the Sacred Feminine\, all spiritual evolution is impossible! Join
us to hear some new and perhaps even shocking ideas.\n \n2:30 – 4:00
Balancing the Sacred Feminine &amp\; Sacred Masculine: Meditati
 on\, Movement\, and Discussion Circle\n\nwith Jennifer Mehlich\n \nIt's n
ot a zero sum game – the rise of the Feminine does not require the eclip
se of the Masculine. In fact\, both have to evolve together\, and both hav
e to find out what they really even are (what society calls 'masculinity'
is not 'sacred masculinity'). There can be no wholeness or completeness
 – in individuals\, in relationships\, in civilizations – without honor
ing\, correcting\, and balancing together both these poles of Life. The ci
rcle will explore and discover their individual and collective connection
to how the Divine reveals itself though each polarity using meditation\, m
 ovement\, sacred geometry\, and group reflection. \n \n \n\n4 pm Book S
 igning and Tea \n \nSUNDAY SCHEDULE:\n \n9:30 – 10:30      Wendy
’s Yoga Class \n(all workshop participants are welcome)\nwith Wendy Line
 s\n \n11:00 – 12:30     Experience Wholeness via a greater experien
ce of The Feminine\n\nwith Maryanne DiPalma  Buchele\n \n Wholeness Ene
rgetics is a system of energy medicine that facilitates expansion of aware
ness which is based on the understanding that each of us is whole\, comple
te and perfect.  When we can more fully experience this\, we can open to
the magnificence and power of our true selves.  Its aim is to assist us i
n removing barriers to the awareness of the power of our true nature and t
 o reclaim our natural state of joy\, flow and abundance.\n \n \n12:30
 – 1:30     Lunch (bring your own or $12 donation)\n \n \n1:30 –
2:30      Manifesting the Sacred Feminine in Yourself:  Wisdom\, Str
 ength\, Beauty\, Perfection\nwith Miriam Belov\n \n These attributes are
described in detail by Sri Aurobindo in his book\, “The Mother”. We s
hall use his teaching as we explore these qualities\, relate to them and u
ltimately manifest them. Meditation\, visualization\, energy healing and m
ovement will be incorporated in this experiential workshop. As you go deep
ly into your own life\, you relate to the divinity that lies within.  Foc
using on each trait\, you will see how it expresses itself through your un
ique journey. Once integrated\, the sacred goddess shines through in the h
ere and now. Conscious of this unity\, you are filled with gratitude and s
urrender. Your psychic being can then lead you onward into your illumined
 future.\n \n \n2:30 – 4:00      Experiencing the Sacred Feminine
 Through the Expressive Arts\nwith Lucy Barbera\n       \nExperienci
ng the Divine Feminine within us can and does occur throughout our lives n
aturally. Yet\, sometimes having a dedicated time to consciously invite th
e grace of the sacred feminine is welcome. The Expressive Arts provide pow
erful tools to identify\, invite\, explore\, and give form to the sacred f
eminine within us.  The Expressive Arts can assist women (and men) in sym
bolically accessing their inner energies and uniting them in praise of the
sacred feminine. To this end\, participants will be guided\, using clay a
nd creative writing\, to explore their inner polarities and give outer for
m to the scared feminine within them. No previous artistic experience is r
 equired to participate!\n \n \n \nAbout our Presenters:\n \n \nDr. Ne
